Our School Spirit Lasts An Eternity

Summit Christian Academy Elementary

Lower Elementary (K-2)

We consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to partner with parents in raising children to be godly men and women. We provide a secure nurturing environment for students to learn, grow and discover their potential. Your child will spend the day with someone who sincerely cares about his or her success.

Our teachers are committed to instilling within our students a knowledge of their purpose in Christ. This commitment is realized through a highly academic program built on a biblical foundation and extracurricular activities that emphasize growing in Christian character.

Early Education/Lower Elementary Principal

 Upper Elementary (3-6)

Starting in third grade, we integrate student's use of technology into the classroom with school-issued Chromebooks at SCA. Upper elementary grade levels use previously learned skills and apply more complex learning in a more independent learning environment. Foundations and Framework (F&F) is a uniquely designed research-based instructional reading program that begins in third grade. Having students practice cursive writing is also an essential part of improving students' visual and cognitive skills. Sports and activities start for students at this age as well. Biblical integration is emerged in all subjects to help students think biblically and critically to help students grow in God's wisdom. Proverbs 16:16 says that having wisdom and understanding is better than having silver or gold.

We want to fulfill our mission to inspire students to achieve their God-given potential through excellent academics and Christian training in a compassionate environment.

Mrs. Julie Madsen
Upper Elementary Principal

Elementary Foundations and Frameworks

Foundations and Frameworks is a reading curriculum that focuses on teaching reading comprehension through the intentional instruction of critical thinking skills.  Throughout the year, students will read approximately eight novels, ranging from beloved classics such as The Secret Garden to nonfiction books like Crisis in Space: Apollo 13, to historical fiction like Number the Stars.  Instructional techniques include vocabulary exercises, graphic organizers, silent sustained reading, small group discussion, and memorized pattern statements.  Multiple elements of literary analysis are mastered, some of which include setting, plot, character, symbol, figurative language, summarization, main idea, etc.

Foundations and Frameworks is included in the curriculum beginning in 2nd grade and continuing through 6th. Teachers take a 10-day instructional course in order to be fully trained in curriculum implementation.  All books read by students are listed on our school web site and are available for parent checkout in our school library.
